Navis AP3000 autopilot has been type-approved by DNV

Navis Engineering has received a type-approval certificate from DNV on the autopilot Navis AP3000 as a «heading control system» and a «heading control system for high-speed craft» according to the international standards ISO 11674 and ISO 16329 respectively.

On November, 17 the DNV inspector who had arrived to Navis’ R&D Center to Saint-Petersburg to supervise testing of Navis AP3000 and Navis’ engineers who participated in the testing, signed the final testing protocol. During the period which had passed since DNV inspector had first visited Navis this summer, the autopilot had been adjusted taking into account all the inspector’s comments.

Since classification societies impose strict requirements on the safety of ship operation and on the non-standard modes of operation of the interconnected equipment as part of the whole safety picture, DNV mainly remarked on the autopilot’s reactions to the failures which may appear while operating Navis AP3000.
