New appointment at Navis

Last week, new Sales and Marketing Director, Andrey Vorobiev, was appointed at Navis. His responsibilities will include developing the company’s business both in Russia and in the international market.

Here are a few facts of his biography: in 1993 he graduated from the Makarov State Maritime Academy (Saint-Petersburg) from 1993 to 1994 was employed as a navigation officer at the Baltic Shipping Company. In 1994 started to work at the company Transas as a design engineer. In 1995 was appointed the Head of the Navigation Department of Transas, in 1997 – the Chief Design Engineer. From 2000 to 2006 Andrey Vorobiev held the office of Director of Navigation Business Unit at Transas.

Among the most successful projects realized by Andrey Vorobiev during his work at Transas was the project jointly fulfilled by Transas and Hyundai Heavy Industries Сo on the development and certification at DNV of the first in the world integrated navigation system (bridge); the system was certified in full compliance with the new standard IEC61924. During the period from 1996 to 1999 Transas, supervised by A. Vorobiev, developed and, for the first time in history, certified at BSH (Germany) the Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS). From 1995 to 2006 he takes an active part in the activity of the workgroups of the International Electrotechnical Commission (TC80) contributing to the development of international standards on the integrated navigation system, navigation data presentation and on the electronic chart display information systems.
