JP 3000. Joystick Pilot systemNavis JP 3000 Joystick Pilot is a standalone joystick control system that ensures free vessel maneuvering in any desired direction, including at mooring, as well as automatic heading control.
Navis JP 3000. General Information:
Navis JP 3000 has been specifically designed for yacht and workboat applications when free maneuvering in the limited space is required and conforms to the requirements set for Dynamic Positioning Systems of the ABS DPS-0 and DNV-T classes. Navis Joystick Pilot 3000 is not intended for use on any DP (Dynamic Positioning) classed vessel as approved solution for dynamic positioning. A Range of NAVIS IVCS or NavDP4000 series/DPS product has to be considered in that case. NAVIS JP 3000 is recommended for vessels with length up to 60 meters (LOA) due to built-in mathematical model

Navis JP 3000. System Overview:
Vessel control is provided by setting the required fore-and-aft, transverse control forces and controlling moment by the Shipmaster using the 3-axis joystick. The required control forces and moment are implemented by Main Propulsion, Main Steering, Bow and Stern Thrusters. Along with manual vessel control, JP 3000 provides semi-automatic heading control, i.e. JP 3000 automatically holds heading while Shipmaster controls the fore-and-aft and transverse vessel motion without compensating possible vessel rotation, which can occur as a result of operator's actions. JP 3000 provides “Hold Position” functionality as well, i.e. JP automatically holds vessel in preset position with auto heading control.
At forward vessel motion, JP 3000 acts as autopilot /See AP 3000 Heading Control System description/, i.e. provides vessel heading control using rudder(s) or track control using an external Navis "Survey System' or ECDIS. Control of Thrusters and Main Propulsion is not provided in this mode. Heading control system (AP 3000) is integrated part of Joystick Pilot 3000 and it has DNV type examination for the compliance with IMO Res. A.342(IX), IMO Res. MSC. 64(67) Annex 3, IMO Res. A694 (17). Autopilot is also compliant with IMO Res. A.822 (19), ISO 11674 Heading Control System, ISO 16329 (2003) Heading Control System for High Speed Crafts and IEC 62065 Track Control System.

Operating modes of Navis JP 3000:
- "Joystick Manual" - mode is used for fore-and-aft and traverse steering and provides control of ship heading by joystick rotation, which generates a control moment
- "Joystick Auto Heading" - mode is used for fore-and-aft and traverse steering with auto heading control
- "Speed Control and Auto Heading" - this mode is used for fore-and-aft and traverse steering with automatic heading control. Joystick is intended to set longitudinal and transverse speed
- "Hold Position" (Option) - completely automatic position keeping mode maintains the ship in a selected position
- "Anchor Watch" (Option) - this mode allows keeping a vessel in the set radius from the coordinates, pre-established by the operator
- "AUTO" - Automatic Keeping of Heading
- "DODGE" - Direct manual control of synchronized rudders, using the rotary knob on the control panel
- "TRACK" - Automatic Control of the Vessel motion on a straight track
- "AutoNAV" - Automatic Control of the Vessel motion on a straight track and turns
- "OVERRIDE" (Option) - Direct manual control of synchronized rudders, using external override devices (tillers)
Navis JP 3000 interfaces:
Main Engine and Thrusters interface:
- Proportional control via - 0...10 V, ±10V or 4...20mA control signal
Steering Gear interfaces:
- Solenoid valves, 24V DC (up to 3A load current)
- Proportional valves - 0...10 V, ±10V or 4...20mA control signal
- Proportional rudder control (steering gears with follow-up steering control system) - 0...10 V, ±10V or 4...20mA control signal
Sensor interfaces (NMEA):
- Gyrocompass (recommended)
- Magnetic or fluxgate compass
- Navis "Survey System" or ECDIS for Track Control
